Now Windows 7 Powers More Than 50% of Desktops Around the World!

Windows 7

According to Stat Counter, Windows 7 have just passed the 50% mark in the global desktop market. Windows XP is going down fast. 7 is eating XP’s market. But soon, a new player will come to take the place of 7! Windows 8!

According to these stats, Windows 7 is taking XP’s share. Vista is also falling. Mac also shows a small decline. But other operating systems have started to rise gradually. Its very small but it looks like we have some hope for Linux.

Soon, Windows 8 will be released and 7 might have to step aside. But will it happen? Windows 8 is aimed at the tablet and some desktop users won’t like the change. Some will love it. The same thing happened to Ubuntu. So, what do you think? Will Windows 8 take the lead?

Finally, I need to remind you of one thing… This is the desktop market share. Don’t think Windows  is the leader in all the computers! Nearly 90% of web servers run on Linux. More than 98% of mobile phones run on Linux. Most of the few super computers run Linux. Smart TVs, and many other devices run mainly Linux! So, don’t get fooled by these results!

Well I run a dual boot with ubuntu/windows 7.  I heard(not sure if true) that in windows 8 you will not be able to dual boot because of secure boot.  Basically I won’t being able to use my ubuntu if I go to windows 8.  If this does turn out to be true I probably will not be going windows 8.
