According to the latest surveys, from all the smart phones in US, 51.8% are based on Android. 34% are based on iOS! Clearly, people are now going with the more open and powerful Android devices.
According to Nielsen’s report, even-though Android is the number one smart-phone OS, Apple is the number one smart phone manufacture… The reason? Android phones come from many different manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony, etc… So, the 51.8% divides between all of them. But iOS based devices are built only by Apple. So, the whole 34% goes for Apple.
It’s very interesting to learn that the Linux-based Android managed to conquer the smart phone industry while Linux still struggles to get hold of its intended target, Desktops! As Linus said, it’s because there’s only a very few machines which will come with Linux pre-installed! Pre-installations… That’s the key!
