Ubuntu 12.10 is almost here. The final stable version will be release on the 18th of October (Next Month). The development team have already started to wrap things up and new beta versions have been released.
The new Beta 2 have a lot of new changes including a brand new Unity, Dash preview, the controversial Amazon integrations (with the shopping lens), remote login in light dm, social lens, photo lens, changes in default applications, etc. You’ll also notice that the CD version is dropped. They still call it the desktop CD but that image is too big for a CD. You need a DVD for Ubuntu 12.10.
Just now, they have also released the beta version of Ubuntu Gnome Remix. A new flavor of Ubuntu which will have Gnome Shell instead of Unity! If you want, try them now in a virtual machine. Or, wait for the final release.
