No More Ubuntu Tweak! Why?

Ubuntu Tweak

The developer of popular Ubuntu customization app Ubuntu Tweak made a very shocking announcement in his blog. He simply said he is going to stop developing Ubuntu Tweak!

UT is one of the main reasons I choose Ubuntu as my favorite OS. It have millions of users around the world. After a very slow development cycle, recently, things started to speed-up. Ubuntu Tweak got several new updates in the past few months and the latest release added a brand new feature called the App Center to make it easier to install third-party apps which are not in the official repositories.

But suddenly, when things seems to be working really well, the developer announced that he is going to stop developing the app!

You may ask why I made this decision to stop the development of Ubuntu Tweak, I may write 10,000 words to describe how I start this project, how I feel happy from this project, how I feel bad from this project…But I just want to say: If making free software is not free any more, why still doing this?

Why did he mention about free software? Did he also misunderstood Mark’s announcement about Ubuntu 13.04 and thought its going to be less open? The real truth is, Ubuntu is getting more open. Have he done a big mistake? We need to find out!
